On Saturday, December 3rd, long-time Morse & Company client, Members Advantage Credit Union, hosted its annual Penny Panda Saver Club Christmas Movie event in Michigan City, Ind.

Over 400 Penny Panda kids and parents attended the screening of "The Muppet Movie" and had a very fun time all thanks to Members Advantage Credit Union.

Kids even had the chance to meet Santa before the movie started.

The annual auto show First Look event supports the Boys & Girls Club of Chicago as well as 17 other Chicago area charities.

This year's black-tie attire First Look will be held February 9 at the McCormick Place.

Included in this post are inside and outside views of the invitations. These invitations were sent out all over the country - quite an expansive audience and great exposure for such sharp looking invitations.

Morse & Co Designs New Logo for Michigan City Area Schools

Morse & Company Advertising just released its newest creation for the entire Michigan City Area Schools - a new, unifying school system logo. Thanks to the creative eye of our design staff as well as the dedication and marketing savvy of our account executives heading up this project, a beautiful and effective product was unveiled to a crowd of pleased school officials and community members.

Here is an excerpt from the Michigan City News-Dispatch front-page article written about the logo unveiling at a previous school board meeting:

Michigan City Area Schools has a new logo symbolizing unity within the school system.

At Tuesday night’s school board meeting, MCAS Director of Communications Besty Kohn presented the new logo designed by local advertising agency Morse & Company. It features two figures reaching toward a start in front of a lighthouse and waves of water.

Kohn said the new logo incorporates the tagline “Opportunity – Excellence – Pride,” directly derived from words in MCAS’ mission statement.

The new logo will be phased into MCAS stationery, business cards and other office effects after products with the old logo have been used to make the change cost-effective and environmentally friendly, Kohn said.

The new logo was designed, she said, to unify the school corporation under one image and mission, instead of the ever-present red apple and lighthouse logos of previous years.

In addition to a new logo, MCAS will receive a new website created in collaboration with School-wires, a website host specializing in educational sites. Work will begin this week, with a final unveiling later this fall.

Board member Jeffrey Jones said the new logo and website will help MCAS brand itself in an age when marketing and image are becoming more important for schools across the nation.

“We are now in that era,” Jones said. “This allows us to tell our story more efficiently and effectively.”

This year's theme is getting the royal treatment, taking cue from the recent royal wedding overseas and creating a regal and high-brow event at Pottawattomie Country Club to help raise money for the organization. One of Morse & Company's clients is the City of Valparaiso which is now using Morse & Company to help with the promotion of its new bus line, the ChicaGO Dash.

The Dash is a weekday bus service to and from Chicago for those commuting from NW Indiana. The City of Valparaiso has been running ads in local NW Indiana newspapers and the ad included in this blog post is an ad that has recently run.

It's been too long since we here at Morse & Company have had our beloved chili cheese hot dogs but the waiting game has finally ended - Carlson's Drive-In (located in Michigan City) opens today, February 3rd!

The one remedy many of us here in Michigan City have been using for centuries to correct the funk that lingers after a blizzard is the old trick of eating two chili cheese dogs and then washing them down with a frothy mug of root beer. Morse & Company recommends to give the remedy a whirl if you have any symptoms of Blizzard-itis lingering.

On Wednesday evening, October 20, Barbara Eastman, a Morse & Company Account Executive, attended the Business Women Unite - Mix & Mingle event last night.

The event was held at Shady Creek Winery in Michigan City, Ind. and about 40 area business women attended.

The evening was a social networking event where local business women mingled, enjoyed wine from Shady Creek, food from Sahara in Michigan City and desserts from Arturo's Bakery.

Raffle prizes were donated by members and other businesses across the region. Michigan City and Valparaiso chapters were in attendance. There are works for a soon-to-be Hammond chapter to be formed.

"We're having a winter retreat in February at Tower Hill Camp & Resort in Sawyer, Mich.," says Eastman. "It should be a blast!"

Tri Kappa "Little Black Dress" Fashion Show Oct. 7

On October 7, 2010, Barbara Eastman, a Morse & Company Account Executive, attended the 29th Annual Evening of Elegance - Tri Kappa Fashion Show. The show was hosted in Merrillville, Ind. at The Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza and about 400 attendees came to enjoy fashion and dinner sponsored by the Beta Rho Chapter of Tri Kappa.

Susan Glick of Merchandise Mart Fashion Productions provided commentary during the fashion show as models walked down the runway showing off sportswear, day time dresses, formal wear, furs and other fashion pieces.

"There was also a boutique set up selling jewelery, gourmet food, purses, small leather goods, home decor pieces and clothing from 12 different vendors along with a raffle," says Eastman.

All the proceeds collected help support local charitable organizations and also provide yearly educational scholarships.

On Saturday, October 2, the Sisters of St. Francis Health Services along with the Executive Staff of St. Anthony, St. Margaret Mercy, St. Anthony Memorial and Franciscan Health Physicians Hospital hosted the 4th Annual Northern Indiana Region 2010 Gala.

This year the gala was titled "Touch of Class," which is bit of an understatement for this black-tie affair. This year's event venue was the Hilton Chicago (720 South Michigan Ave.) downtown Chicago.

Three of the Morse & Company family attended the event, Sharee Morse (President of Morse & Company), Valerie Vedron (Director of Operations) and Barbara Eastman (Account Executive) all had lovely evenings at the gala.

The evening began at 6p.m. with a social hour which lead into the gala dinner that started at 7p.m. After dinner there was more socializing and dancing with music provided by the band Together.

Eastman, Komasinski attend Dunebrook Annual Gala

A few weekends ago, Morse & Company's own Account Executives Monica Komasinski and Barbara Eastman attended Dunebrook's annual gala on Saturday, September 11th. The gala this year was titled "Dunebrook Speak Easy" making it a 1920s themed party with fitting decorations and a fun atmosphere.

The gala took place at The Allure in La Porte, Ind. Not only was this event a fun evening out for the community, it was also Dunebrook: Prevent Child Abuse La Porte County's biggest fundraiser of the year.

"It was a lovely evening with a well done theme for a great cause," Komasinski says.

The evening began with cocktails at 5p.m. followed by the gala which lasted until midnight. During the evening events, an auction took place raising money for the organization with items to bid on like Notre Dame football tickets, a grandfather clock and jewelry among other items.

According to Barbara,"Everyone really
embraced the Roaring 20s/Speakeasy theme and went all out, showing up in
great costumes, which added to the festive atmosphere. It was great to see
the community turn out in support of Dunebrook and the important work they
do."

Dunebrook also awarded Duane Seifert, of Current Electric, with the Lester Radke Community Service Award for his efforts toward his community.

Marquette High School Block Party

On Friday, August 27 Marquette Catholic High School in Michigan City, Ind. hosted its very first block party. The party was held outside the school and lasted well into the night. MQHS reported 460 current students, family, friends and alumni attended the community event and had a great time. Festivities at the block party included BBQ food, live music and fun among all.

Morse & Company's own Account Executive and Marquette HS alumni, Leigh Ann Flora, attended the event and enjoyed the entire night.

The evening was beautiful and the jazz was smooth on Saturday, August 28th. The 2010 Smooth Jazz at South Shore benefit concert took place on Michigan City's lakeshore in Washington Park at the Guy Foreman Ampitheater in front of thousands of jazz enthusiasts and novices alike.

Morse & Company had a booth set up to hand out fans with Morse & Company information on the front and TheBeachCoast.com logo on the back. The booth also gave a chance for Morse & Company to talk with concert goers about the two companies.

Urban Jazz Coalition

All proceeds will benefit the Sand Castle Shelter for Children and Families, Stepping Stone Shelter for Abused Women and the American Red Cross LaPorte County Chapter. Last year, Smooth Jazz donated $45,000 total, $15,000 to each of the groups.

At this year's Smooth Jazz South Shore music festival Morse & Company will have a booth set up before and during the performances on Saturday, August 28th. Smooth Jazz at South Shore will start at 7:30 p.m. at Washington Park in Michigan City, Ind.

This Midwest music festival was created to expose the residents of Michigan City, La Porte County and the surrounding areas to culturally diverse and internationally acclaimed artists. This year's line-up includes: Oli Silk, Tom Braxton, Jeff Lorber, Urban Jazz Coalition and U-NAM. This past October 10, 2009, the Sisters of St. Francis Health Services sponsored the 3^rd annual Northern Indiana Region Gala. The gala was held at Soldier Field in Chicago, Ill. in the United Club.

Our very own Sharee Morse and her husband were in attendance with the 950 other guests for the special evening to raise money for three different Franciscan Health Centers in Northern Indiana.

The three health centers that benefitted from the gala are:

• Saint Anthony - St. Clare Health Clinic

• Saint Anthony Memorial

• Saint Margaret Mercy - The Catherine McAuley Clinic

Sharee Morse, who was in attendance at the black tie event, said, “The Gala was wonderful. My husband and I had a great time at dinner with great conversation and laughter by all, we had fun dancing and enjoyed a great cocktail hour.”

Guests were able to explore the stadium before the gala began and then enjoyed live music and dancing throughout the event all night.

Red Cross 5k Run & Health Walk

A few weeks ago, the LaPorte County chapter of the Red Cross hosted a 5k Run & Health Walk and Morse & Company's very own president, Sharee Morse is a proud board member and worked a merchandise booth during the festivities of the weekend.

This was an exercise walk/run for charity and fun. The first 150 participants received a 5k tee shirt and first place winners were awarded prizes in different age ranges.

There were also random prize giveaways along the 5k route.

A Great Time and a Great Cause

On Saturday, August 29 in Michigan City, Ind, The Smooth Jazz at South Shore outdoor concert was held on the sandy shores of Lake Michigan in Washington Park. People were bundled up for both the cool temperatures and the cool jazz.

Morse & Company is a proud sponsor of this outstanding event, which drew 3000 jazz enthusiasts to the concert.

World-class performers included Rick Braun (trumpet), Jonathan Butler (guitar and vocals), and Richard Elliot (saxophone), who performed individually and together.

The concert--now in its third year--has raised well over $100,000 for three local charities:

Sand Castle Shelter for Children and their Families

provides short term drug and alcohol free shelter for homeless families

Stepping Stone Shelter for Women, Inc.

provides shelter, counseling, 24-hour hotline, and non-residential services to women and children who are victims of domestic violence

The American Red Cross La Porte County Chapter

provides services to members of the US armed forces and their families; disaster relief; blood collection and distribution to the sick and injured; teaches courses in first aid and water safety; and provides many other services.

The sixth annual 2 BigHearts Golf Outing will feature a very special guest speaker this year by the name of Pam Upp. Pam, who is a wife, mother of three and fifth-grade teacher at Kingsbury School will share her fortunate story. Pam was diagnosed with a rare heart condition after she attended a free screening offered through the 2 BigHearts Foundation and La Porte Hospital Foundation.

With medical attention from the Heart & Vascular Institute (HVI) at La Porte Regional Health System, Pam is doing great and living an active life.

2 Big Hearts Foundation Golf Outing

On September 13, 2009 the 2 Big Hearts Foundation will be having a golf outing at Long Beach Country Club in Michigan City, Ind.

All proceeds collected at the event will be used fund the foundation so that they can get out and raise awareness of heart disease among women.

Heart disease is the #1 killer of women in the United States and The 2 Big Hearts Foundation's mission is to use the story of Gigi Clarke and Sally Czechanski, both dying of undiagnosed heart disease on the same day 90 minutes apart, to "educate women about the causes and prevention of heart disease (2bighearts.org).

Dunebrook Invites Oprah back for their 20th Anniversary

Dunebrook: Prevent Child Abuse LaPorte County is celebrating their 20th Anniversary next month on September 12th and is trying to get Oprah Winfrey to return to help celebrate.

Seventeen years ago, Oprah raised awareness of child abuse in our country on her television show and highlighted Dunebrook as a leader in the cause for prevention. Now Dunebrook, after serving LaPorte County for 20 years, is having a gala to celebrate their and the families helped by this organization success inviting Oprah to attend because of her contributions meant so much to everyone involved.

Dunebrook has uploaded a video to Youtube asking Oprah to attend. Please upload this video anywhere possible to get the word out to as many people as possible to help get Oprah to LaPorte County.
